Swedish medical company partnered with General Motors to develop mechanical gloves

On October 11, according to Reuters, medical science and technology start-ups Bioservo Technologies has announced to cooperate with GM. The two sides prepared to

develop one kind of lightweight mechanical gloves which can assist front-line workers to complete car assembly work.

Bioservo Technologies itself has developed machine-glove products that can be used in the medical field to help people with inadequate grip gain "additional muscle strength".In partnership with GM, the two sides will provide a more efficient ancillary device for workers working on assembly lines.

"People can find other devices (instead of our solution), but these devices tend to have a must arm circles, or must be worn on the body, or sometimes even need fingers to activate structure. By contrast, our products are purely made by the fabric only. This is unique."Johan Ingvast, co-founder and chief researcher of Bioservo, said.By placing sensors on three fingers and record the user's action, combined with the artificial tendon assisted motor drive, Bioservo from Sweden has been able to take advantage of soft fabric simulation and strengthening the same human body movement. The technology has been used in the medical field to help patients such as arthritis regain control of their limbs.

Today, the company chooses cooperation with General Motors,to create one kind of mechanical gloves products suitable for the use of car assembly industry workers by

the technology jointly researched and developed by the latter with NASA RoboGlove. This kind of gloves can reduce the workers' strain injuries or fatigue after making repeated heavy activity.

GM says it plans to test new gloves in some of its factories and hopes the new product will improve worker efficiency.

Bioservo hopes to spread the same technology to other parts of the body.

"Can we use this technology in the upper arm?"Ingvast said,"Or is it used in the back to help relieve the pain in the back? We actually have a lot of parts to try."
